Le Canal des Deux Mers à Vélo day 10 - Heading home
To get myself back home, I had myself booked on an early train from Béziers to Paris. I aimed to get to Paris early so that I could explore and then enjoy good food in the evening. The following day, I would be getting the Eurostar back to the UK.
Having got myself to Paris and from the station to my hotel, I headed out to the islands to take a look at Notre Dame and have a walk around part of the Marais. Crossing from Île St Louis, the bridge had stalls from one end to the other hosting ceramic artists. There was some interesting and high quality work, although nothing that could safely be carried in my bike luggage.
In the evening, I headed to Les Vins des Pyrenées, a restaurant in the St Paul area of the Marais. It’s a cosy place with good food where I enjoyed French onion soup and magret de canard (duck breast). Afterwards, I treated myself to a cocktail in the bar hidden upstairs.
And that was that. The following day, I got myself to the Eurostar and back to the UK. I was home mid-afternoon; as ready as I could be to be catching a flight to Abu Dhabi the next day for work.
