La Loire à Vélo day 14 - 63km from Nantes to St-Nazaire then train to Paris

The Loire à Vélo route officially finishes at the coast, either at Saint Brevin les Pins or Saint Nazaire. In the time constraints I had, I didn’t have time to cycle that and return to Nantes for my train to Paris. But I did have time to get a train from Nantes to Saint Nazaire and back again with a couple of hours to have a look around.

This way, I was able to get to Saint Nazaire by late morning, cycle to the beach, and have a little ride and walk along the seafront to see the unusual sculptures that seem to be plentiful there. After a drink and snack in a cafe by the beach, I got the train back to Nantes and then the TGV back to Paris with plenty of time for me to cycle from the Gare Montparnasse to my hotel near the Canal St Martin.

I was keen to get to Paris in good time so that I could make my way to the Louvre for the evening. After the Olympics, the “hot air balloon” that had been used as the Olympic flame was still actively being lit and raised in the evenings. Although on this occasion, a lightning storm was due into the area, so it could not be raised. Still it was nice to go and see it all lit up.
